We all know lemons protect us against many diseases and have positive effects on internal organs and the overall immune system. But, did you know that this citrus wonder can also help with joint pain?
Lemons are rich sources of vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin C, A, B1, B6, magnesium, bioflavonoids, pectin, folic acid, phosphorous, calcium, and potassium.
The peel is abundant in essential oils which have a positive impact on the blood vessels and provide anti-inflammatory properties. Consequently, they are beneficial in terms of reducing nerve pain.
The following two simple recipes will help you get rid of joint pain:
- Grate the peel, being careful to only get the yellow layer and none of the white. Rub the peel directly onto the affected body part and wrap with a bandage. Keep in place for up to two hours.
- Put the rind of two whole lemons in a jar, and fill with olive oil. Close the jar and let the mixture sit for two weeks. When the remedy is ready for usage, put some of the olive oil onto clean gauze and place the gauze onto the affected area. Put a plastic bag over the gauze and a wool scarf over the bag. Do this procedure in the evening because the best way to heal your joints is to let this coating to act overnight.
Lemon peels help in improving bone health. The high amount of calcium and vitamin C help in maintaining and improving the health of bones and prevents bone related diseases likes osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory polyarthritis.
